Last weekend I was very frustrated with someone. Instead of keeping it to myself or even waiting to be alone with my husband to vent my frustrations I shared them with the whole house. Not wise, I know better, I don't want to color anyone's opinion of someone they know. Plus, it was gossip, judging and speaking ill of someone all in one. I went almost completly off the deep end and got myself all riled up. Totally unnecessary.
Sweet Lilly to the rescue! She gave me a note, at the top it said, "5 things I love about ..."
She told me to sit down and write 5 things I liked about that person. Believe me I did not want to!!! I knew I had to though, because I would have and have made her do the same thing. So I began to think.......
"Can I write, 'helpful, when they want to be?" I asked.
"Mom," she sighed, "now you have to write two happy memories you have of them too."
"Ugh, I don't like being your mom." I grumbled
She gasped, "your kidding, right?!"
"Yeesss, I'm kidding." scribble, scribble, scribble.
She was exactly right to have me do that because it calmed me down and put it all in perspective. Then when I handed her my homework she told me I needed to go say a prayer. I didn't right away, so when she asked me later if I had. Well, I said, "no." she gave me the cutest look that said, 'Michaeline, I'm disappointed in you, go do it right now."
She is wonderful, I am so thankful for her sweet sweet heart. I would be lost with out the sunshine she brings into our home. She is a great example of humility, charity. She is working so hard to do what is right and always seems to be thinking before she acts, 'is this Christ like?"
If she happens to act rashly or lash out she is so quick to remedy the situation. She can't lie for long at all, maybe a few hours, but she always tells the truth before to long. She can't sleep with a guilty heart. What an angel.
